BSI - British Standards Institution. They set out expected standards of quality for a wide range of products in the UK.
Continuous improvement - The ongoing process of identifying, analysing and implementing methods that can be out in place to improve goods and services.
Customer involvement - Gathering feedback from product users in order to identify areas for improvement in order to better satisfy their demands.
Efficiency - The reduction of waste in the production process.
ISO - International Organisation for Standardisation. They set out expected standards of quality for a wide range of products internationally.
Kite Marks - A symbol that can be displayed on products that have been approved by the BSI for quality and safety.
Lean manufacturing - The application of practices to minimise waste in all stages of production while maximising productivity.
Quality circles - Groups of employees brought together on a regular basis to discuss methods to solve problems and improve output in their organisation.
Quality control - Checking samples of a product in different stages of production against a specification.
Quality culture - An workplace in which all team members are concerned about the quality of their work and strive to enhance their own performance.
Quality standards - Sets of principles, systems, procedures, standards, and specifications for ensuring consistent process and product quality.
Six sigma - A collection of methods for reducing faults and errors to 3.4 defects per million opportunities.
Staff buy-in - When employees recognise that a choice or change is required, accept that change and remain committed to the company's efforts to achieve its objectives.
Supplier engagement - The level of commitment a supplier has towards the goals of their B2B customers.
Zero defect production - A company philosophy in which all employees work together to ensure that there are no quality flaws.
